Notes: | Pictured in this listing is a widebody multiball whitewood which apparently was fully functional at one time. The backglass name looks like one word 'LazerLord" while the copyright notice on the backglass lower left corner shows it as two words, 'Lazer Lord'. Underneath the apron, the name is handwritten as two words along with showing there the handwritten name of the designer. The simple cabinet art and colors are the same as that of Stern's 1981 'Viper', also a widebody and multiball. The cabinet is stamped with serial number 50294. The coin door and backbox insert are each tagged with the name 'Viper' and the operator options in the backbox are labeled for 'Viper'. However, the playfield design is different than the 'Viper' game. The ROMs are labeled 6-8-82. This 1982 widebody never went into production. The last production game made by Stern Electronics, Inc. was Stern's 1982 'Orbitor 1'. In 1984, Stern Electronics, Inc. tried to re-enter pinball machine manufacturing and produced a narrow body prototype called 'Lazer Lord' but with a different playfield design than the 1982 whitewood. It did not go into production. For a lengthy description of how that game came about, see Stern's 1984 'Lazer Lord'.

Notes: | The backglass name looks like one word 'LazerLord" while the copyright notice on the backglass lower left corner shows it as two words, 'Lazer Lord', as does its Instruction Card. The designer's name is shown on the playfield between the flippers. Same playfield layout as Stern's 1980 'Quicksilver' but with different artwork and, reportedly, has subtle differences in some angles of the playfield components. This 1984 'Lazer Lord' was a prototype narrow-body machine and never went into production. Stern's 1982 'Orbitor 1' was the last production pinball machine manufactured by Stern Electronics, Incorporated. We distinguish this 1984 narrow body prototype game from the 1982 widebody whitewood having the same name but with a different playfield design, see Stern's 1982 'Lazer Lord'. In 2017, Duncan Brown had provided his knowledge and research to explain these two different and obscure games having the same name: It's pretty clear that in 1982, while they were trying (and failing) to sell many Iron Maidens or Orbitor 1s, Stern was working on their next game, LazerLord. They were building up a whitewood in a leftover Viper cab

Notable Features: | Flippers (2), Pop bumpers (3), Shaker motor (2), Timed multiball (4), Speech. The main objective is to achieve multiball by changing the stoplight from green to yellow to red. The stoplight is changed via ramp shots or by hitting the upper playfield targets. The shaker motors operate during multiball. By hitting the stick shift you increase from 1st gear to 6th gear (one gear for each hit). In addition to getting points for this, there are Jackpots for all 6 gears. The game software was based on Sega's 1996 'Twister'. Cabinet measures 48 3/4 inches long, 20 1/2 inches wide, and 72 1/2 inches high.

Notes: | Artist Marc Raneses told us that this game was around the time he left Sega Pinball so he didn’t remember doing too much on it. He believes he did "a few dots" but thinks Kurt Andersen probably did the majority of the dot/animation. Mini-Viper was an experiment to have a modern game in a 1950's size of cabinet, created in response to operator complaints that pinball machines were too large for the smaller game nooks of some locations, where a video game would be a more sensible fit. However, this prototype game, brought to an AMOA show, was not well received for its smaller size, and never went into production. Instead, a full-size game was made, Sega's 1998 'Viper Night Drivin''. The prototype was obtained from Sega missing the playfield gear shift knob, the Viper toy car, the specially-sized lockdown bar, and the translite. These items were faithfully reproduced in the pictures shown here.

This is a 3-ball multi-ball game, with the balls being stored in the lane located on the upper right-hand side of the playfield. There is a round turret located in the center of the playfield. Normally stationary, the turret begins to revolve when a ball enters it. The red flipper buttons are used to aim and launch the ball out of the turret in any direction and back onto the playfield. The turret also has 7 stand-up targets that can be hit while in motion.
